The first in his family to attend college, he earned degrees in psychology, information systems, and leadership — blending science, service, and storytelling into a lifelong pursuit of clarity.

Larry’s career spans energy, education, and federal service — from building student management systems and mapping coalfields to pioneering GIS technology with FEMA, where his clarity-based systems improved disaster response across the country.

Known affectionately as the “clarity engineer,” Larry blends Big History, psychology, and Appalachian wisdom to help others turn confusion into understanding and pass that wisdom forward.
