What Will You Leave Behind? Maps, Not Memories

Memories fade. Maps endure. That’s the lesson I’ve carried through decades of work in technology, leadership, and community service. A memory is personal; a map is shareable. When we leave behind maps — frameworks, stories, tools — others can find their way long after we’re gone.

My goal in writing and teaching is to leave maps, not just memories. A clear diagram, a plainspoken metaphor, or a timeline of lessons can guide future generations. Memories honor the past, but maps prepare the future. Legacy is not about being remembered; it’s about leaving clarity others can use.
